Holt and Ellington got to have two visits with Santa. On pajama day at school, Santa made an appearance and the club had a Santa brunch which was delicious and again Santa was their for everyone to have their picture taken with him. Holt was all about it and politely told Santa what he wanted for Christmas, a toy train and truck. Ellington wasn't feeling it this year! See below.
This year was the first year Holt got to participate in the Christmas program at school. They have breakfast that morning for all the children and their families and then they have their performance. It. was. precious. They had their separate center wide Christmas parties on the 18th. Chad and I couldn't stay long but we managed to make a quick appearance and celebrate.
On Christmas Eve, we went to the 3:30 candlelight service at our church and my parents joined us. After church we ate dinner and decorated the cookies we had made for Santa. Then it was bath time followed by opening family presents under the tree. Holt got pajamas, a ninja turtle ball, and Lego's. Ellington got pajamas, a beautiful angel painting, and an American Girl baby doll that was mine as a toddler. After gifts, we left food for the reindeer, read The Night Before Christmas and The Christmas Gift, and then it was off to bed!
Christmas morning Holt and Ellington woke up around the same time 6:30ish. We rushed downstairs and Holt saw that Santa had drank all the milk and ate all the cookies but there were no presents in the den. He almost started to cry but I quickly reminded him that Santa might have left their gifts downstairs in the their new playroom (one of my projects over the holiday break was turning the man cave into the official playroom...Chad's thrilled). What do you know...the train table and train set and play kitchen that Santa brought was strategically and neatly placed downstairs. Holt yelled out with joy! Ellington seemed excited but again doesn't really grasp Christmas yet. Both gravitated to their new toys. Even Bully and Max joined in on the fun with new candy cane bones. Santa left some Disney movies in Holt and Ellington's stockings and some new socks for both Chad and myself. It was a very fun morning.
After a some time playing with all that Santa had brought, I headed upstairs to start working on Christmas lunch. My parents, Tyler, Becky, Jonathan, and Maggie along with Chad's mom and grandmother came for lunch. We ended our feast with singing Happy Birthday to Jesus and cake!
This Christmas was a time in which we all spent a little more time reflecting on what is most important in life. I am very thankful for all my many blessings this season and always :)
